About

Read the record. Check the source.

STAR(city)GAZER is a free public archive of Roanoke City Council meeting records.

Independent and nonpartisan

STAR(city)GAZER is independent and nonpartisan. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Roanoke.

Where the records come from

Every meeting, agenda, and document comes from the City of Roanoke's official CivicClerk portal. Each page links to the official source and says when the record was retrieved. Original documents are not copied here; links open them on CivicClerk.

How it works

The archive checks CivicClerk several times a day, stores each published version of the meeting records, and notes when a file is posted, revised, renamed, or removed. Those notes appear in each meeting's change history.

Public comment

Meeting records list the names of residents who speak during public comment. This site does not republish those names. Each meeting page says how many residents spoke and links to the official record.
